Lorenza Borrani appointed Västerås Sinfonietta’s Artistic Partner

Lorenza Borrani joins forces with Jazz musician and arranger Magnus Lindgren, conductor Jessica Cottis and composer Benjamin Staern in Västerås Sinfonietta’s Artistic Partners programme from Autumn 2023 through to Spring 2026. 

The programme allows Västerås Sinfonietta musicians to establish stronger relationships with the artists they have found most exciting in the recent seasons and push the boundaries of the artform from different angles. 

“Already during our first project with Haydn and Maderna, Västerås Sinfonietta musicians’ desire for creating something special was constantly present. It is this sort of prolific environment, with its atmosphere and commitment, that I love to be in. I am greatly looking forward to our next projects together!”

“Throughout my years of booking guest artists, there are people we have become extra fond of. Working with artistic partners provides us the opportunity to create more continuous programming as well as the ability to better plan ahead, says Rikard Gateau, artistic director at Västmanlandsmusiken. Based in Västerås’ Konserthus, Västerås Sinfonietta has been offering concerts since 1883 as the country’s one of the oldest symphonic orchestras. In addition to their subscription and community series in Västerås, the orchestra enjoys touring inthe Mälardalen region and abroad, most recently in the UK.

Lorenza Borrani returns to Västerås Sinfonietta in October 2023 with a programme including Schnittke’s Sonata No.1 for violin and string orchestra and Mozart’s Symphony No.36 ​“Linz”.
