Three HarrisonParrott artists perform at Verbier Festival
Three HarrisonParrott artists perform in the 25th anniversary of the Verbier Festival (19 July- 5 August).
Anne Sofie von Otter appears in concert with Rufus Wainwright at the Verbier Festival on 20 July performing music by Leonardo Cohen, Offenbach, Wainwright and others. Von Otter will also be joined in Verbier by trail-blazing string quartet, Brooklyn Rider for a concert including works by John Adams, Caroline Shaw, Björk, Kate Bush and Elvis Costello from the Naïve recording ‘So Many Things’.
Martin Fröst performs at the Festival’s 25th anniversary celebratory Gala concert on 25 July, where he performs a new arrangement by Stephan Koncz of Strauss’ Die Fledermaus for clarinet and orchestra. Fröst gives two chamber music performances on 30and 31 July (where he performs Brahms’ Trio for clarinet, cello and piano, and Schoenberg’s Strauss: Kaiser-Walzer arranged for flute, clarinet, piano and string quartet respectively) and then on 3 August, he is conducted by Pablo Heras-Casado who makes his Festival debut conducting the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra. In this programme, Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie for clarinet and orchestra and Nordin’s Emerge for clarinet and orchestra are performed by Fröst; Rossini’s Overture from Il barbiere di Siviglia and Schumann’s Symphony No.2 complete the programme.
