On 24 February, Principal Guest Conductor Pablo Heras-Casado conducts the world premiere of Mauricio Sotelo’s El Público at Teatro Real in Madrid. Performances run until 13 March.

Based on the play El Público by Federico García Lorca, Heras-Casado leads the Klangforum Wien and the Chorus of Teatro Real in the new opera directed by Robert Castro.

Also at the house this spring, Heras-Casado directs a fundraising concert on 3 March with Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid in support of Ayuda en Acción — a charity which the conductor is an ambassador for – and on 12 and 14 March he conducts Teatro Real’s Choir and Orchestra in Britten’s War Requiem, with soloists Susan Gritton, John Mark Ainsley and Jacques Imbrailo.
