Pablo Heras-Casado makes his debut with the Philharmonia Orchestra
2/3/2014

Pablo Heras-Casado makes his debut with the Philharmonia Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall on 9 March.
Beethoven forms the first half of the programme. In their first collaboration together, Heras-Casado conducts Nikolai Lugansky in Piano Concerto No.5, whilst the concert opens with the EgmontOverture. In the second half, Heras-Casado conducts Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.3 (Scottish).
Mendelssohn has been a feature of Heras-Casado’s programmes this season. Last autumn he conducted a major festival of the composer’s music – including the Scottish Symphony and the Cantata Die erste Walpurgisnacht – with the San Francisco Symphony.
On 10 March, harmonia mundi releases his recording of Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.2 (Lobgesang), with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks – his second release on the label, following great acclaim for Schubert’s Symphonies Nos.3 & 4 with Freiburger Barockorchester.
