Lahti Symphony Orchestra invite Sauli Zinovjev to be its Composer-in-Residence for the 2025/26 season.

Lahti-born Zinovjev says ​‘This music has its origins in the same streets and concerts where I grew up listening, dreaming and gradually searching for my own voice’. His season as Composer-in-Residence begins with a new work commissioned by the orchestra. Fade Out premieres at the opening concert on 18 September under the baton of Hannu Lintu. Zinovjev describes the work as a ​‘rollercoaster ride’, going at full tilt.

The orchestra also present the Finnish premiere of Zinovjev’s Percussion Concerto A Savage Beat on 29 January performed by Vivi Vassileva and conducted by Tomas Djupsjöbacka. Zinovjev’s Percussion Concerto ​“takes listeners on an exhilarating journey through a thunderous landscape of ancient and modern percussion instruments, featuring Japanese taikos, shimmering gongs, vibrant steel drums, and more” (Vassileva), On 5 March, Hannu Lintu conducts Wiegenlied, the title of which alludes to the famous Op.49 No.4 lullaby by Johannes Brahms written in 1868,
