Pierre-Laurent Aimard’s summer festival season began paying tribute to Nicholas Angelich following his sad death as he stepped in to play Beethoven’s Emperor concerto at Choregies d’Orange with L’Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under the baton of Maestro Chung on 7 July.
This week he returns to gives recitals in Graz for Styriarte on 11 July and steps into Bad Kissingen on 14 July before travelling to Joliette for Messiaen’s monumental Catalogue d’oiseaux at the Festival de Lanaudiere on 22 and 23 July. He concludes his performances in July with a recital as part of the Salzburg Festival and in August makes appearances at the Hitzacker Festival with the Kuss Quartet on 1 August, Festival de Musique Menton on 5 August as well as returning to the Edinburgh Festival on 11 August.
