On 9 April, Patricia Kopatchinskaja releases her new album, Pierrot Lunaire, on Alpha Classics. Schoenberg’s seminal work, the setting of 21 poems by Albert Giraud, features Kopatchinskaja as the narrator Pierrot across three parts.
The album features regular musical partners Joonas Ahonen, Reto Bieri, Meesun Hong-Coleman, Júlia Gállegoand Thomas Kaufmann, who together also perform Strauss, Webern and Kreisler on the record.
The CD release is followed by a series of performances across Europe this year, beginning with Orchestra Philharmonique de Radio France and continuing with Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Salzburg Festival and Oslo Chamber Festival later in the summer.
