JESS GILLAM WINS AT CLASSIC BRIT AWARDS 2018

Jess Gillam had a wonderful night at the Classic Brit Awards, picking up the Sound of Classical Poll 2018. This was Jess’s first nomination for a Classic Brit Award, winning the prize to promote the best emerging artists and ones-to-watch in classical music.

Jess said: 

“Every performance I give I try to be as honest as I possibly can. It’s an instrument that isn’t as widely performed as others in the classical sphere: saxophone. I’m really trying to do as much as I can for the instrument and for the music and I’m not sure what’s made me different but I’m really, really proud to have won it.”

This continues a special week for Jess that began with her international debut at the Gothenburg Symphony conducted by Santtu-Matias Rouvali. She is also set for a very busy summer including two BBC Proms (including the Last Night) and recording for her debut album which will be released on Universal/​Decca.
