Throughout October and November Pablo Heras-Casado leads a number of performances in New York on both the concert and opera stage.
On 29 October Heras-Casado conducts the Orchestra of St Luke’s at Carnegie Hall, with Christian Tetzlaff as the soloist. The programme includes Stravinsky’s Suite No.2 for Small Orchestra, Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.1.
At The Metropolitan Opera, Heras-Casado has already started his run of Verdi’s Rigoletto and upcoming performances take place on 28, 31 October, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16 & 19 November. He previously made “an auspicious debut” (New York Times) at The Met in 2013, leading performances of this Rat Pack-era production designed by Michael Mayer. This time, the cast includes George Gagnidze, Željko Lučić, Stephen Costello, Piotr Beczała and Olga Peretyatko.
On 12 November Heras-Casado returns to the concert stage to lead the Juilliard Orchestra for the first time. He conducts the orchestra at the Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center in a programme that includes excerpts of Prokofiev’s Cinderella Suites, Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances and Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto with the school’s violin competition winner, Bomsori Kim.
