Susanna Mälkki debuts with Staatsoper Hamburg in a revival of Jenůfa

Susanna Mälkki makes her debut with Staatsoper Hamburg conducting Olivier Tambosi’s production of Janáček’s Jenůfa.
Starring Karita Mattila in the title role, the production made its premiere at the Staatsoper in 1997/98 and was last performed there in 2007/08. Opening on 16 October, performances run until 1 November.
Mälkki, recently appointed Chief Conductor of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra from the 2016/17 season, recently opened the Finnish National Opera season conducting a new production of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro.
Future highlights for Mälkki include a return to the Opéra national de Paris where she previously conducted the world premiere of a ballet by Bruno Mantovani in spring 2010, and last season conducted Janáček’s The Makropulos Case.
