1/8/2014
This year the Mostly Mozart Festival in New York features eight HarrisonParrott clients. Over the festival’s month-long schedule they welcome Martin Fröst, Christian Tetzlaff, The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Paavo Järvi, Osmo Vänskä, Russell Thomas, David Zinman, and Patricia Kopatchinskaja.
Clarinetist Martin Fröst returns to the festival in two concerts on 4 August. The first is with the Emerson String Quartet, where he joins them to perform Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet. Later that evening he is joined in recital by violist Antoine Tamestit and pianist Shai Wosner. The progamme features Mozart’s Kegelstatt Trio, Debussy’s Première rhapsodie and Poulenc’s Clarinet Sonata. On the following two evenings Christian Tetzlaff performs Mozart’s Violin Concerto No.1 with the Festival Orchestra conducted by Louis Langrée.
At the final concert of their North American tour with Paavo Järvi, The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen perform at the festival on 7 August with an all-Brahms programme. As part of this tour, the orchestra has also performed at the Ravinia Festival in Chicago and the Tanglewood Festival in Boston.
On 8 and 9 August, festival favourite Osmo Vänskä conducts the Festival Orchestra in a programme of Prokofiev, Shostakovich and Beethoven with pianist Yuja Wang and trumpeter Philip Cobb.
In the following weeks, Russell Thomas sings in two performances (12 – 13 August) of Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 under Gianandrea Noseda. David Zinman then conducts two concerts on 19 and 20 August with a programme of Boyce, Mozart and Beethoven featuring violinist Joshua Bell and violist Lawrence Power.
For the final three concerts of the festival, Patricia Kopatchinskaja performs a late night concert on 21 August with repertoire from Enescu, Bach and Bartók. She then returns to perform Martin’s Polyptyque: Six Images de la Passion du Christ in both of the festival’s closing concerts on 22 and 23 August.
