Jörg Widmann appears in a number of roles as Artiste étoile at the Mozartfest Würzburg, performing in a number of concerts and recitals in May and June.
As soloist he performs Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto with the Kammerorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks conducted by Radoslaw Szulc on 23 & 24 May; he also performs Rihm’s Fremdes Licht with the Bamberger Symphoniker, soprano Mojca Erdmann and violinist Carolin Widmann on 14 June. Weber’s Clarinet Concerto features in a programme with the Irish Chamber Orchestra — of whom Widmann is Principal Guest Conductor — on 19 June, when he also conducts works by Mozart as well as his own music.
His work Sommersonate is performed on 8 June by Renaud Capuçon, Edgar Moreau and Frank Braley. Widmann also gives a number of recitals at the festival, including a concert with Tabea Zimmermann and Denes Varjon on 15 June.
