Maria Seletskaja
Music Director, English National Ballet Company
Maria has established herself as one of the most in-demand dance conductors of her generation. With a dramatic style that combines elegance, precision and verve she collaborates with major ballet companies worldwide including Paris Opera Ballet, Norwegian National Ballet, San Francsico Ballet, Hamburg Ballet and Dresden Semperoper.
Maria starts 2025/26 with performances at Sadlers Wells, London Coliseum and The Lowry. This is followed by concerts with Hallé Orchestra and two productions with Lithuanian National Ballet.
Maria studied music theory, harmony, and orchestration at Berklee College of Music in Boston and conducted under James Tuggle’s tutelage. During her final years as a dancer, she was also an assistant conductor at Stuttgart Ballet where she made her conducting debut in April 2017. Since 2018, Maria has dedicated herself fully to conducting. In 2021, she began her Master’s studies in orchestral conducting with Maestro Arvo Volmer at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.
Maria was appointed Music Director of English National Ballet Company at the start of the 2024/25 season.
