With a distinctive blend of precision, spontaneity and musical curiosity, the Frank Dupree Trio moves freely between the worlds of classical music and jazz. The trio embraces the limitless variety of musical genres and explores the spaces where different traditions meet, combining a conscientious approach to classical masterpieces with the flair and fluidity of jazz improvisation. Its repertoire features original compositions as well as their own arrangements, spanning works by Beethoven, Ravel and Kapustin, songs by Kurt Weill, George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein, and jazz standards by icons such as Duke Ellington and Chick Corea.

Highlights of the trio’s 2026/27 season include performances at Wiener Konzerthaus, Philharmonie Haarlem, Marianischer Saal Lucerne, Tonhalle Düsseldorf and Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as well as collaborations with Robert-Schumann-Philharmonie Chemnitz, Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Mainz and Göttinger Symphonieorchester.

International engagements have taken the Frank Dupree Trio to established festivals and venues across Europe and Asia such as Music in PyeongChang in South Korea, Classix Festival Iași in Romania, Verbier Festival in Switzerland, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Jazzfest Bonn, Heidelberger Frühling and Schwetzinger SWR Festspiele. Concert projects and CD recordings have brought the trio together with orchestras including Royal Scottish National Orchestra led by Patrick Hahn, SWR Big Band and SWR Symphony Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Dortmund Philharmonic, Stuttgart Philharmonic, Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra and Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn. The trio’s programmes feature collaborations with distinguished musical partners, among them violinist Noa Wildschut, trumpeter Simon Höfele and saxophonist Libor Šíma.

The Frank Dupree Trio achieved resounding international success with its debut album Blueprint, featuring arrangements of works by Nikolai Kapustin for jazz trio. Süddeutsche Zeitung praised the ensemble’s ‘artistic excellence.’, rbb-Kultur named the recording album of the week, and The New York Times included it among the most notable releases of the year. The trio also appears alongside SWR Big Band and SWR Symphony Orchestra in Frank Dupree’s complete recording of Kapustin’s six piano concertos, scheduled for release in 2026.
