André de Ridder returns to Sydney Symphony Orchestra and New Zealand Symphony Orchestra
27/3/2026
André de Ridder returns to Australia to conduct four performances with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Sydney Opera House from 25 to 28 March. The engagement features a programme including Kristina Arakelyan’s Toccata, Max Richter’s Cosmology and Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, with Anna Lapwood as organ soloist and the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs.
Following his appearances in Sydney, André travels to New Zealand for his next engagement with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, where he is Music Director Designate. De Ridder is performing on 9 April at Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington and on 10 April at the Auckland Town Hall. The programme includes Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte, Bryce Dessner’s Concerto for Trombone and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 8, with David Bremner as trombone soloist.
These concerts continue to strengthen André’s close artistic relationship with the orchestra ahead of his tenure as Music Director beginning in September 2027.
