Patricia Kopatchinskaja Returns to LSO for Artist Portrait Series 25/26
15/1/2026
Patricia Kopatchinskaja returns to London Symphony Orchestra for her Artist Portrait series, exploring some of the 20th century’s most iconic violin concertos. Her programme features Berg’s Violin Concerto with Gianandrea Noseda and Bartók’s Violin Concerto No.2 with Sir Simon Rattle, in which Bartók’s deep connection to Hungarian folk music resonates with Kopatchinskaja’s own childhood: “I grew up with folk music. My parents played it all their lives, that’s the blood in my veins. But the air I breathe is contemporary music.“
The series also highlights Hungarian composer Márton Illés’ new concerto Vont-tér with Robert Trevino. Kopatchinskaja premiered the work with WDR Symphony Orchestra in 2020 and revisits it with the LSO this season. She also performs Vont-tér with Münchener Kammerorchester on 15 January, marking the work’s Munich premiere. The concerto features on her recently released CD with MKO.
