Dalia Stasevska returns to New York for three concerts with New York Philharmonic on 6, 7 and 8 November at the David Geffen Hall. In a programme honouring Ukrainian people, she conducts Bohdana Frolyak’s Let There Be Light. She is joined by Joshua Bell in Thomas de Hartmann’s Violin Concerto, bookending the programme with other responses to war: Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man and Britten’s Sinfonia da Requiem. She then continues to Canada to lead the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in two performances on 13 and 15 November at Roy Thomson Hall, with Sibelius’s Finlandia performed alongside the Toronto Youth Symphony, Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7, and Thomas de Hartmann’s Violin Concerto with Joshua Bell. Dalia concludes the tour with four performances with The Cleveland Orchestra on 20, 21, 22 and 23 November at the Severance Music Center for a programme of two evocative musical depictions for the American continent — Revueltas’s cinematic La Noche de los Mayas and Dvořák’s Symphony No.9 “From the New World”.
