Sir Stephen Hough embarks on an Asia tour starting 31 October, performing Brahms’ Piano Concerto No.1 with the China National Symphony Orchestra and Lan Shui in Beijing. On 7 November, he joins the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Rodolfo Barraez for the Asian premiere of his own concerto, The World of Yesterday. He then gives solo recitals in Nanjing (9 Nov) and Beijing (11 Nov), followed by Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.5 with the Taiwan Philharmonic and Leonard Slatkin (14 & 16 Nov). The tour concludes on 22 November with Symphony S.O.N.G. and Shinik Hahm, featuring Grieg’s Piano Concerto and his own concerto’s Korean premiere.
