Estonian Festival Orchestra Heads to Carnegie Hall for Sold-Out Arvo Pärt Celebration
21/10/2025
The Estonian Festival Orchestra, under the direction of its founder and Music Director Paavo Järvi, is now en route to New York for the final stop of its sold-out October tour.
The journey began on 18 October at the Wiener Konzerthaus in Vienna, where the orchestra appeared alongside Interpunkt Ensemble, with pianist Kalle Randalu joining for this opening concert. From there, the ensemble travelled to Zürich for a performance at the Tonhalle on 19 October, before continuing to Hamburg for a concert at the Elbphilharmonie on 20 October.
The tour culminates tomorrow, 23 October, at Carnegie Hall in New York, with the performance broadcast live on WQXR Radio, bringing the orchestra’s distinctive sound to audiences far beyond the concert hall.
At the heart of this tour lies a programme devoted entirely to the music of Arvo Pärt, whose works have become emblematic of Estonia’s cultural voice. Joining Järvi and the orchestra in New York are three exceptional soloists: the celebrated violinist Midori, rising Estonian talent Hans Christian Aavik on violin, and acclaimed composer-pianist Nico Muhly. Two choirs will also feature in this landmark concert: the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and New York-based Trinity Choir.
