Josep Pons will begin his tenure as Chief Conductor of the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie from the 2025/26 season, marking the start of an exciting season and artistic partnership in October 2025.

The first concert with the DRP will take place on October 4 at the Saar Music Festival, where he will conduct Ravel’s Shéhérazade and Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique, offering a compelling preview of his expressive musical vision.

Pons’s official debut as Chief Conductor follows with the programme ​“The World on Stage”, a tribute to operatic storytelling featuring overtures by Mozart and Beethoven, and culminating in Richard Strauss’s Elektra Suite. Performances will be held on:

11 October in Metz

Following over a decade as Music Director of Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu, Pons brings his signature depth and dramatic sensibility to this new role. With these performances, he begins his tenure with a bold and expressive musical statement.
