Maxime Pascal conducts Eötvös premiere and Boulez tribute at Salzburg Festival
15/8/2025
Conductor Maxime Pascal returns to Salzburg Festival for two exciting projects in 2025.
On 8, 12, 21, and 24 August he will conduct the premiere of a new production of Peter Eötvös’ Tri Sestri, an operatic adaptation of Chekhov’s play by the same name. The composer wrote the major female characters with the voice of a counter-tenor in mind. Directed by Evgeny Titov, the production will star one male soprano and two countertenors in the roles of the sisters: Dennis Orellana, Cameron Shahbazi, and Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen.
19 August will see Pascal reconvene with his ensemble, Le Balcon, for A Tribute to Pierre Boulez, an immersive concert honouring Boulez’ legacy. Le Balcon will partner with IRCAM for cutting-edge electronics in its performance of works by Boulez, Nono, and Stockhausen.
