Angela Hewitt’s Busy Month of October
4/10/2024
Angela Hewitt embarks on a very busy October schedule, beginning with an appearance in Asia, play-directing Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra on 5 October, where she continues her latest project, the Mozart Odyssey, a project that sees Hewitt perform Mozart’s Complete Piano Concertos with a variety of orchestras.
Directly after, Hewitt marks her return to Australia for a four-date recital tour, having not performed in Australia since 2017. During this period, she presents a programme of Mozart’s Piano Fantasie, his Sonata for Piano No.14, J. S. Bach’s Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue, Handel’s Chaconne and Brahms’ Variations on a Theme of Handel. Throughout the tour, Hewitt performs in Adelaide’s Elder Hall on 9 October, Melbourne’s Recital Centre on 12 October, Bendigo Capital Theatre on 13 October, with the final date at Syndey’s City Recital Hall on 15 October.
To conclude the month, Hewitt travels to the US for recital appearances at SOKA’s Performing Arts Center in California on 20 October and in New York at 92nd Street Y on 30 October. Sandwiched in between both recitals is an engagement with Dame Jane Glover and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, where she performs Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.25, again as part of her Odyssey.
