Gabriel Venzago has been announced as General Music Director of Staatstheater Mainz and Chief Conductor of Philharmonisches Staatstheater Mainz from the 2025/26 season.

Venzago has been Chief Conductor of Bodenseephilharmonie Konstanz since 2023, following his position as First Kapellmeister at Salzburg Landestheater, where he led new productions of Mozart’s Magic Flute, Bizet’s Carmen, experimental theatre productions, and the world premiere of the opera Cinderella by British composer Alma Deutscher.

Today’s announcement marks the start of an important season in which Gabriel Venzago will continue to build impact, reputation and visibility of his orchestra in Konstanz by introducing a wealth of new series and formats of presentation targeting a large and diverse audience. Guest engagements also lead him to orchestras across Europe and Asia.
