Gavriel Heine conducts United Ukrainian Ballet’s Giselle in Costa Mesa
Gavriel Heine conducts the newly formed United Ukrainian Ballet’s Giselle at the Segerstrom Center in Costa Mesa from 29 June – 2 July, alongside Pacific Symphony Orchestra.
The company was formed as a very specific and definite reaction to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and features ballet dancers from both Ukraine and Russia who would otherwise be artistically homeless. Following historic performances at Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center and the London Coliseum, this production will mark the ballet company’s West Coast debut. This new interpretation of one of the greatest romantic ballets in the classical repertoire was created specifically for the company by Ratmansky, who himself is a Ukrainian citizen.
