On April 26 Christian Gerhaher and the Bamberger Symphoniker under Jakub Hrůša premiere Jörg Widmann’s song cycle Das Heiße Herz in its new, orchestrated version. Originally composed for baritone and piano in 2015, the orchestral version is the centre piece of this programme that will be repeated in concerts in Bamberg on 27 and 29 April and at Philharmonie Essen on 1 May. 

The song cycle unveils the many faces of love using texts that strike deep into the heart. The song cycle is framed by the original version of Janáček’s Žárlivost and Brahms’ Symphony No.3.
