We are delighted to announce a new European collaboration with two exciting, young, North American artists, soprano Layla Claire and baritone Tobias Greenhalgh.
A graduate of the Lindemann Program at the Metropolitan Opera, Canadian soprano Layla Claire has already made notable European debuts at the Glyndebourne Festival (Donna Anna), Festival d‑Aix en Provence (Sandrina) and Opernhaus Zürich (Governess). Adding two further roles to her repertoire this season, Layla Claire shortly debuts at Washington National Opera as Blanche de la Force, and closes the season at the Metropolitan Opera as Anne Trulove. An accomplished concert singer, Layla Claire has worked with conductors including James Levine, Michael Tilson-Thomas and Yannick Nezet-Seguin in repertoire including Mahler’s Symphony No 2, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, Dvorak’s Requiem and Haydn’s Seasons.
An outstanding graduate of the Juilliard School, American baritone Tobias Greenhalgh is currently a member of the Junges Ensemble of the Theater an der Wien where his roles have included the title role in Eugene Onegin and Argante (Rinaldo), Ramiro (L’heure Espagnole), Le Directeur and Le Gendarme (Les mamelles de Tirésias) and Cecco (Gli Uccellatori). In his second season in Vienna, Tobias will make debuts on the main stage at Theater an der Wien in both L’incoronazione di Poppea and in Christoph Loy’s new production of Peter Grimes as Ned Keene.
