As Music Director of the Orchestre de Paris, one of the main resident ensembles, Paavo Järvi conducts the opening concerts of the new Philharmonie de Paris.
Celebrations begin with the inaugural gala concert on 14 January, when Järvi and the Orchestre de Paris are joined by soloists Hélène Grimaud, Renaud Capuçon and Matthias Goerne. Commissioned especially for this opening, the programme includes the world premiere of Escaich’s Concerto for Orchestre.
Over the following two weeks of festivities, conductor and orchestra work with soloists Lang Lang (15 & 17) and Janine Jansen (21 & 22), and perform a number of major works including Ravel’s Daphnis and Chloé, Berlioz’ Symphonie fantastique, Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring and Shostakovich’s Symphony No.5.
