Paavo Järvi and the Orchestre de Paris embark on a tour of China
24/10/2014

This week Paavo Järvi and the Orchestre de Paris embark on a five-concert tour of China, which includes a performance at the Shanghai Symphony Hall, a striking new 1200 seat hall which opened its doors in September 2014 and is situated in the heart of the city’s French quarter. Järvi returns to the hall in December 2014, when he conducts the prestigious New Year concerts with Shanghai Symphony Orchestra.
Whilst on tour, Järvi and the orchestra have the honour of closing the Beijing International Music Festival with an all-Strauss programme in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the composer.
This trip marks the first of two extensive tours for Järvi with the orchestra this season; in January 2015 they perform the opening concerts of the new Philharmonie de Paris, where they will be joined by guests such as Janine Jansen, Renaud Capuçon, Lang Lang and Hélène Grimaud.
