16/9/2014
Hannu Lintu debuts with the Hallé in five UK concerts to mark the opening of the orchestra’s 2014/15 season.
The season opens in Manchester on 17, 18 and 21 September with concerts featuring extracts from Prokofiev’s Cinderella and Ravel’s orchestration of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Nikolaj Znaider joins the orchestra in Manchester as soloist to perform Sibelius’ Violin Concerto. Lintu conducts two further concerts with the orchestra in Sheffield and Bradford on 19 and 20 September where he is joined by pianist Christian Ihle Hadland to perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.21.
Lintu’s Avie recording with Augustin Hadelich of Sibelius and Adès’ Violin Concertos with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, released in March 2014, was recently nominated for a Gramophone Award in the Concerto category.
