Rumon Gamba opens the Residentie Orkest 2014/15 season
8/9/2014

Rumon Gamba returns to the Residentie Orkest to open their 2014/15 season at The Hague on 19 September in a programme of d’Indy, Canteloube and Mussorgsky.
He conducts the same programme with the orchestra a few days earlier on 14 September, in a concert marking his debut at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw. Orchestra and conductor give a live televised concert at The Hague on 16 September to mark the 200th anniversary of the Dutch monarchy, which features compositions written during the reigns of each of the seven Dutch monarchs.
The concerts follow a highly successful summer for Gamba which included a large-scale production of Elektra with NorrlandsOperan in collaboration with La Fura dels Baus. The outdoor production, which was part of Umeå’s year as European Capital of Culture, was described by Svenska Dagbladet as “inspired” and “miraculous”.
