Rumon Gamba conducts the Aalborg Symfoniorkester and soloist Nikolaj Znaider in theopening concerts of Aalborg’s new Musikens Hus. The hall opens with an invitation-only gala concert on 29 March; the first public concert, on 30 March, is already sold out.

The programme opens with Danish composer Niels Gade’s Concert Overture, Echoes of Ossian, and closes with a classic of the English repertoire – Elgar’s Enigma Variations. Nikolaj Znaider is soloist in Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto.

Holder of positions in both Denmark and Sweden, at the start of 2014 Gamba conducted his NorrlandsOperan Symphony Orchestra in a complete Beethoven symphony cycle, celebrating the city of Umeå’s year as a European Capital of Culture. The project also included nine commissions inspired by each of the Beethoven symphonies.
