On 20 August Jamie Barton makes her debut at the Saito Kinen Festival as Meg Page in Verdi’s Falstaff under Fabio Luisi, performances run through to 26 August.
This production closes an exciting season for Jamie. Her double win at the 2013 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition was followed by a string of successes. Opera highlights included Adalgisa (Norma) at The Metropolitan Opera under Riccardo Frizza and her role debut as Fricka (Das Rheingold) in Houston Grand Opera’s Ring Cycle. On the concert platform she sang in Verdi’s Requiem with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Andrew Davis and in Britten’s Spring Symphony with The Cleveland Orchestra under Franz Welser-Möst as well as in a highly-acclaimed Mahler Symphony No.3 with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra under Osmo Vänskä.
Jamie’s upcoming performances this autumn include Jane Seymour in Lyric Opera of Chicago’s highly-anticipated new production of Donizetti’s Anna Bolena, conducted by Patrick Summers and Fricka in the second instalment of Wagner’s Ring cycle at Houston Grand Opera, marking two role debuts.
