Stefan Asbury steps in at short notice to conduct the MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig.

He leads the orchestra in a programme of English music in Magdeburg on 14 June and at Leipzig’s Gewandhaus on 15 June. The concerts include Elgar’s Enigma Variations and Vaughan Williams’ Oboe Concerto — with soloist Norbert Strobel — and open with Parry’s An English Suite. 

The Leipzig concert marks Asbury’s second appearance at the Gewandhaus this season, having conducted Hans Zender’s Winterreise there in February.
