Vladimir Ashkenazy conducts Gewandhausorchester Leipzig in two concerts
6/4/2014
Vladimir Ashkenazy steps in for Music Director Riccardo Chailly in two concerts with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig on 10 and 11 April. He conducts the orchestra in an all-Rachmaninov programme: Symphony No.3 and Symphonic Dances.
A pre-eminent Rachmaninov interpreter both as a pianist and conductor, Ashkenazy recently completed his milestone project for Decca featuring Rachmaninov’s complete piano music – a release which also includes Ashkenazy’s recordings as a conductor of the composer’s symphonic works.
