LA NÉRÉIDE — LES PETITES FRANCAISES
La Néréide showcase Lully and his almost-forgotten pupil, Lalouette, whose musical rivalry was well known in the day. Respecting the composers’ intentions and the way in which the works would have been sung upon their original creation, La Néréide will record ‘Les petites françaises’ in 2024; a programme of Lully and Lalouette’s motets and vocal trios with the organist Jean-Luc Ho on the original French organs.
The programme will also be available in a version with continuo; positive organ, viola da gamba and archlute. Using the correspondence of Madame de Maintenon, the secret wife of King Louis XIV, as a link throughout the programme, La Néréide takes the listeners on a journey into the spiritual, provocative and turbulent France of the early 18th century.
