Olha Dondyk appointed Principal Guest Conductor of Phion Symphony Orchestra
18/3/2026
Olha Dondyk has been appointed Principal Guest Conductor of Phion Symphony Orchestra, effective from 1 September 2026. Across an initial three‑season tenure, she will lead two productions each year, strengthening Phion’s artistic vision through her collaborative approach and musical clarity.
As the first ever Principal Guest Conductor of the Phion Symphony Orchestra, Dondyk will open her new role during a tour in October 2026 with a programme including Wagner’s Tannhäuser Overture, Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2, and Dvořák’s Symphony No.9. Previous appearance with the orchestra last season established a natural rapport, laying the foundation for an exciting long‑term partnership.
Speaking about her appointment, Dondyk says:
“Working with Phion Orchestra for the first time in spring 2025 was truly a special experience for me. I felt a natural connection, a shared musical language, and a genuine warmth that made our collaboration deeply inspiring. Moments like these remind me why I chose this path — the joy of creating something meaningful together.
It is a great honour for me to begin this new chapter as Principal Guest Conductor, and I am truly looking forward to returning to these wonderful musicians and continuing our journey together.”
Artistic Manager at Phion Symphony Orchestra, Wim Ruitenbeek, enthusiastically adds:
“Olha represents the newest generation of outstanding talents with whom we are proud to collaborate. But above all, we aim to achieve an even higher artistic level within our orchestra. And together with Olha, we are able to do so.”
