Swedish Violinist Ava Bahari joins forces with Orchestra Filharmonica di Bologna under the baton of Daníel Bjarnason to perform Bjarnason’s Violin Concerto, Scordatura, a 21st-century work famed for its unconventional tuning and virtuosic demands.
Commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the concerto received its world premiere in 2017 conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, performed by Pekka Kuusisto, for whom the work was specifically written.
The performance on 31 January marks the Italian premiere of Scordatura, within a programme that also features Bjarnason’s Fragile Hope, Britten’s Peter Grimes: Passacaglia and Sibelius’ Symphony No. 7.
