12/9/2025
The Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra of Katowice (NOSPR) arrives in Japan to begin a 13-concert tour across the country, under the baton of Marin Alsop. The tour features acclaimed Japanese pianists Hayato Sumino and Masaya Kamei, and opens with a special programme at Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall.
Spanning two weeks, the tour will bring NOSPR to leading venues in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Yokohama, Hamamatsu, Fukuoka, Myazaki, Kurashiki, Tokorozawa, Chiba and Toyama. This marks the orchestra’s sixth visit to Japan, first one in 1991, continuing its legacy as a cultural ambassador for Poland.
The repertoire showcases Polish and European masterworks, including Grażyna Bacewicz’s Divertimento, Chopin’s Piano Concertos No.1 and 2, Brahms’ Symphony No.4, and Dvořák’s Symphony No.7. The opening concert features both Sumino and Kamei in a rare pairing of Chopin’s concertos.
