Paavo Järvi and the Orchestre de Paris undertake a three-concert residency at Vienna’s Musikverein on 28, 30 and 31 May.
Järvi and the orchestra perform two contrasting programmes, opening on 28 May with Mussorgsky/Rimsky-Korsakov’s A Night on the Bare Mountain, Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No.1 — with soloist Tatjana Vassiljeva — Ravel’s Valses nobles et sentimentales and Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite (1919).
30 and 31 May sees performances of Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, featuring soprano Marita Solberg, baritone Mathias Goerne and the chorus of the Wiener Singverein. The programme opens with Messiaen’s Le Tombeau resplendissant.
