John Daszak returns to Berliner Staatsoper as the Drum Major
20/2/2015
This week British tenor John Daszak returns to the Berliner Staatsoper as the Drum Major in Andrea Breth’s production of Wozzeck.
Conducted by Daniel Barenboim, performances open on 27 February and follow John’s debut in the role at the house where he “made a virile thug of the Drum-Major, though never at the expense of musical values” (Seen & Heard) and was described as a “powerful Tambourmajor with a clear and compelling voice” (Altamusica).
Elsewhere this season, John continues to showcase his versatility and range of repertoire as he returns to Maggio Musicale Fiorentino for performances as Peter Quint in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw, and makes his Bayreuther Festspiele debut as Loge (Das Rheingold) under Kirill Petrenko.
