Following the success of its inaugural edition last year, Akiko Suwanai​’s International Music Festival NIPPON takes place in Sendai and Nagoya from 7 to 14 March 2014.

This second edition of the festival includes recitals, masterclasses and a charity concert with Sendai Philharmonic dedicated to the victims of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. Highlights include Suwanai performing the world premiere of Eric Tanguy’s In a Dream with pianist Akira Eguchi in Nagoya on 13 March.

Following the Festival, Suwanai will undertake a tour of Japan with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and Vasily Petrenko, when she performs Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. Alice Sara Ott also features as a soloist on the tour.
