Patricia Kopatchinskaja makes her Britten Sinfonia debut in a play/direct programme
2/3/2014
Patricia Kopatchinskaja makes her debut with the Britten Sinfonia, in a play/direct programme including works by Mendelssohn, Janáček, Mansurian, Bartók and Brahms.
Concerts take place in Cambridge on 3 March, Norwich on 4 March and in London at the Barbican’s Milton Court on 6 March.
In an eclectic programme with an Eastern-European flavour, Kopatchinskaja performs Mendelssohn’s lesser-known Violin Concerto in D minor, Tigran Mansurian’s Concerto No.2 for violin and string orchestra and works by Brahms, Bartók and Janáček.
Following the outstanding successes of her recent recordings on Naïve – her Gramophone Award winning disc of Hungarian Concertos and last autumn’s CD of Concertos by Stravinsky and Prokofiev — Kopatchinskaja has recently recorded Mansurian’s Concerto for future release on ECM.
