New Partnership: HarrisonParrott Foundation x MAP UK Music
The HarrisonParrott Foundation is proud to announce a new partnership with UK Music’s Music Academic Partnership (MAP), an initiative that connects educational institutions with the music industry to build stronger pathways into professional careers.
MAP is focused on nurturing collaborative projects between academia and the music sector, supporting the next generation of industry professionals through research, careers events, and policy engagement. By linking students with real-world experience and expertise, MAP helps ensure they are equipped with the skills needed for sustainable and successful futures in music.
Our missions align closely: to promote diversity and inclusion within the arts, and builds on our work with organisations such as Tri-Borough Music Hub, Creative Access, Open Up Music, and Awards for Young Musicians.
This new partnership with MAP launches with the annual symposium, this year exploring the theme: Making Every Note Count: Equity, Excellence and Access, an all-day event held on 14 November 2025 at The Glasshouse, Gateshead. Organised in collaboration with MAP UK Music, BBC Orchestras and Choirs, The Glasshouse and the HarrisonParrott Foundation, this flagship event sets the tone for our collaboration — bringing together education, industry, and policy to explore how we can collectively build a more equitable and sustainable future for music.
“We are so pleased to welcome the HarrisonParrott Foundation into the Music Academic Partnership. MAP was created by UK Music to improve and structure links between educators and industry, The MAP network facilitates not only the growth in supporting the knowledge around careers in music (alongside our work on Discover! Creative Careers) but also creates a space within which we can work together to discuss pertinent issues, address challenges, and respond to opportunities as a collective. Having the HP Foundation join MAP offers an opportunity for us to further develop this work together and expands the network in an exciting direction with HP Foundation’s excellent work and specific focus on diversity, inclusion, and access to music. I am particularly looking forward to our first event delivered in partnership — the HarrisonParrott Foundation symposium in Gateshead this November. Definitely one for your calendars!!”
Dr Oliver Morris, Director of Education and Skills at MAP
“Our partnership with UK Music, specifically the Music Academic Partnership, represents a significant and highly-valued collaboration for the HP Foundation. This relationship not only enhances our national profile but also reflects a powerful alignment of our shared commitment to nurturing creative careers, supporting young talent, and expanding access to music from the classroom to career. We are immensely proud to be working alongside UK Music — an organisation widely recognised as a leader and visionary in the sector. We look forward with great enthusiasm to the impactful work we will accomplish together.”
