SPANISH PREMIERES FOR CHARLOTTE BRAY AT L’AUDITORI
19/10/2026
On 17 October, several chamber works by Charlotte Bray received their Spanish premieres at L’Auditori in Barcelona, performed by Cosmos Quartet, José Vicente Castelló (horn) and Noelia Rodiles (piano).
The programme featured From the Innermost Places, Ungrievable Lives, Bring Me All Your Dreams, That Crazed Smile, Those Secret Eyes and That which you wove of lightest thread, I wear to honour stone, the last of which was co-commissioned by L’Auditori.
This was Bray’s first Carta Blanca, giving her the opportunity to curate an entire concert programme.
Charlotte writes: “This is a particularly special moment for me, and I feel immensely honoured to have six of my works performed in a single evening, alongside music by two composers who have profoundly inspired me: Oliver Knussen and Hans Werner Henze… The programme is deeply personal, with threads connecting the works through themes of night, dreams, childhood, memory and remembrance… Two of my works, Ungrievable Lives and That which you wove of lightest thread, I wear to honour stone, are inspired in part by the exquisite, deeply poignant and vitally important work of Caroline Burraway. I am especially moved that Caroline is here in Barcelona, exhibiting the two artworks that helped inspire these pieces… To be given the space to bring together so much of what matters to me, both musically and personally, is something I am incredibly grateful for.”
