NOAH MAX’S ENNUI OP.59 WORLD PREMIERE
19/6/2025
Noah Max’s Ennui op.59 premieres on 24 June with Imogen Whitehead and Patrick Milne at St Jude on the Hill. The piece, written for flugelhorn and piano, is supported by the Vaughan Williams Foundation.
Noah explains “Ennui op.59 is the middle chapter of a trilogy about ‘limit experiences’: states of being so extreme, one can push them no further. Nocturne op.55 is about sleeplessness while The Other’s Discourse op.63 is about desire. The focus of Ennui is much quieter: listlessness, lassitude, lack.”
