Pekka Kuusisto & Norwegian Chamber Orchestra: DSCH
Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and Artistic Director Pekka Kuusisto travelled to London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall at Southbank Centre to perform DSCH on 29 to 30 June 2024, where they boldly push the boundaries of the concert format.
Working with a team of collaborators from the worlds of stage direction, lighting design, set design, costume, and musical arrangement, DSCH is a truly unique concert-theatre experience.
Blurring the lines between these different forms, DSCH gives us glimpses into the life and music of one of the greatest composers of the 20th century, Dmitri Shostakovich.
Shostakovich’s own musical motif DSCH (the German transcription of his initials) creates a musical thread throughout the production. Performing from memory, the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra showcases Shostakovich’s most celebrated works in an entirely new way.
