Canadian pianist Ryan Wang captivated audiences worldwide when he won BBC Young Musician 2024 and the Prix Cortot Award 2024. His interpretation of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2 with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales at Bristol Beacon, broadcast on BBC Two, BBC Four and BBC Radio 3, was described by The Times as “absolutely cursive, producing drawings where the pencil never leaves the page”. His success at the competition at the age of 17 follows an already long list of international prizes and accolades.
The 2026/27 season brings several significant orchestral debuts for Ryan, including appearances with Toronto Symphony Orchestra under Bar Avni and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, as well as Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Münchner Symphoniker and Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra under Lionel Bringuier. Recital highlights include performances at Tokyo Yamaha Hall, St John’s College Auditorium in Oxford and Wilshire Music Center, among others. He also appears as a duo for the first time with violinist Sarang Seohyun Kim at the ClassicAscona festival.
