Recognized as one of the most eminent conductors of Enescu’s music, the deep connection between Lawrence Foster’s conducting and Enescu’s creations is a story of artistic devotion and a subtle understanding of Enescu’s oeuvre and, through it, of Romanian culture. Lawrence Foster has also been a great supporter of Romanian music and musicians throughout his career.
Lawrence Foster made a significant mark on the George Enescu Festival from 1998 to 2001 when, as artistic director, he reopened the doors of this great cultural event after the fall of communism in Romania.
