Martin Grubinger showcases his exceptional versatility as Artist in Residence at the 2014 MünchenMusik Festival.
Martin’s first appearance at the Festival on 5 July features percussion concertos by Cerha, Tan Dun, Dorman, Hartl and Abe – in a concert with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester conducted by Ariel Zuckermann.
A performance of Martin’s acclaimed Salsa programme with his Percussive Planet Ensemble follows on 14 July.
Describing Martin, the Festival writes: “The man is unstoppable… his concerts feature styles from classical to salsa, rock to world music” — and 16 July sees the premiere of a brand new project: Urban Experience, which features break dancers and renowned free runners Jason Paul, Luci Romberg and Anan Anwar. The evening includes excerpts of the film Free My Way with a sound track composed by Martin.
The Residency ends with a recital on 18 July with works by Shostakovich, Xenakis, Rachmaninov, Piazzolla and Camilo with fellow musicians Martin Grubinger senior, Leonhard Schmidinger, Alexey Stadler and Boris Brovtsyn.
