6/6/2014
Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist of the Year Patricia Kopatchinskaja is in Asia, making a number of appearances in Japan, China and Hong Kong.
Her tour opens with two concerts with the NHK Symphony Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy on 7 & 8 June, when she performs Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No.2. She then gives recitals with pianist Konstantin Lifschitz in Tokyo and Osaka on 10 & 11 June respectively. They perform a programme of Bach, Szymanowski, Schoenberg and Prokofiev.
Kopatchinskaja then performs the Prokofiev Concerto in China, with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra conducted by Yu Long on 14 June, and works with the conductor again — as soloist in the same concerto in two concerts with the Hong Kong Philharmonic on 20 and 21 June.
Kopatchinaskaja’s Naïve recording of the Concerto coupled with Stravinsky, with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Vladimir Jurowski, was released last year to considerable acclaim.
